 The 2009 crash of a Colgan Air regional twin turboprop that killed 50 people received an unusual amount of media scrutiny.  Buffalo Airport Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) - Ground Control Position audioColgan Air 3407  On February 12th, 2009, a Colgan Air Bombardier Q-400, operating as Continental Connection, carrying 45 passengers and four crew members from Newark, NJ (EWR) to Buffalo-Niagara International (BUF) crashed on approach into a nearby residence.  Colgan Air operated the flight 3407 between New York and Buffalo with a Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 turboprop aircraft. The flight 3407 was supposed to take off at 7:30 PM. Due to a winter storm, the operators decided to delay the flight to wait for better weather.
