Overview of Influenza A and B

 This WHO Clinical practice guideline for influenza is an update and expansion from the previously published WHO guideline on the clinical management of patients with severe influenza or at risk of severe influenza. These updated guidelines provide recommendations on the management of both severe and non-severe influenza and also includes recommendations.  Influenza is an acute viral infection that primarily attacks the upper respiratory tract, including the nose, throat, bronchi and, less frequently, the lungs. The disease occurs worldwide and spreads very quickly in populations, especially in crowded circumstances.  Seasonal influenza is an acute respiratory infection caused by influenza viruses which circulate in all parts of the world. It is characterized by a sudden onset of fever, cough (usually dry), headache, muscle and joint pain, severe malaise (feeling unwell), sore throat and a runny nose.
